Memorial Day

Memorial Day is full of memories. I've always enjoyed getting together with family and hearing stories of my ancestors. Uncle Joe who loved riding wild horses. Grandpa telling his teacher he was late for school because of the rainstorm at his nearby house on a sunny day. Uncle Reed, the jock, getting out his knitting anytime a younger sister had a date coming over. Perry Fitzgerald scouting for Brigham Young and saving the life of Porter Rockwell. Great-grandpa Frank putting together a picnic lunch of sliced cheese, cinnamon rolls, sausage, and hard boiled eggs. Our past contains a legacy of faith, humor, and love.

At each of these yearly outings, I also get to see the love passing not only to our past, but to our future. New nieces and nephews walking around the cemetery, chasing pinwheels, watering the flowers, listening to the stories. Games at the park. Smiles and laughter. Here are some pictures from this year's Memorial Day of Bryan and Michelle's boys. I hope that the love and the memories never end.
